Why K9s For Warriors Matters
Every day, an estimated 20 veterans lose their lives to suicide—many suffering from the invisible wounds of war like PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma. K9s For Warriors rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to become highly skilled service animals for these deserving veterans. These specially trained “battle buddies” provide critical support, companionship, and a pathway to reclaiming a life of dignity and independence.
Take Marine Veteran Quinton and his service dog Moly, for example. Moly was rescued from a shelter and transformed into a faithful partner who helped Quinton overcome his PTSD. K9s For Warriors stories like theirs demonstrate how your donation does double duty: saving shelter dogs and saving veterans.
How You Can Make a Difference
This year, the 1-800-SWEEPER Foundation is running a special campaign to raise $30,000 to fund training, care, and supplies for new service dog teams. Ninety-eight percent of every dollar raised goes directly to supporting K9s For Warriors programs.
